Staying up to date with the latest Instagram updates can feel like a full time job! So we’ve done the work for you, here are all of the key changes straight from the horse’s mouth… Instagram updates you need to know: June!
Be found in feed, ranking updates!
Reels used to be ranked based on how many followers engaged with it, to give all content an equal opportunity, Instagram are working on a new way of ranking so accounts of all sizes have a better chance of breaking through. This is being rolled out over the next three months. Instagram now ranks by your activity, so keep saving, re-sharing and commenting on similar content. Instagram also ranks by information embedded in the reel so make sure your reel is locked and loaded with a popular audio and organic information!
Stay Original
This is a big one, When two or more pieces of identical content are found by Instagram, they will only recommend the original. This means that any reposts of content will be labelled reposted and will link to the original. This is a really controversial move from Instagram, especially from creatives who often collaborate on projects with large teams.
Story Updates
Ever used the Location stickers on Instagram stories and wished you could change it to lowercase? No? Me neither. Jokes aside, Instagram have launched some new fonts and a title case option to make the feature a bit more versatile.
Multiple Links in bio
This ones been a long time coming! No longer are we restricted by a 1 link bio, you can now add to up to five links. This takes away the need for a directory linking page, although there’s still an argument for using Linktree or direct me as it’s a nice user experience and feels more personalised. To use this feature, go to your profile, click “edit”, then “links”, then “Add external link”.
